A firmware update package always includes the firmware and a description file. You must upload these two files (.rauc and .json) together in the Device and Update Management.

To use the Device and Update Management, a license is required. You can purchase the license in the PLCnext Store. After purchasing the license, you must activate it via the Phoenix Contact Activation Wizard on the respective PC. Afterwards, the Web UI of the Device and Update Management should be accessible via the tray icon.

Depending on the system settings, adding new tray icons can be blocked. In most cases, you can open the Device and Update Management in a browser by entering localhost:5000.
