Configuring PROFINET® devices for redundancy

Available from 2022.0 LTS

  • Configure the System redundancy data hold time for each PROFINET® device.

The System redundancy data hold time is the maximum time that the PROFINET® device holds the output data while a switch-over of the redundancy roles takes place. If neither controller takes over the process control within this time, the output data is discarded and the PROFINET® device enters an error state.

Note: The system redundancy data hold time must be ≥ 200 ms.

Recommendation:

  • Set the System redundancy data hold time according to the following scheme:  System redundancy data hold time = 100 ms + 4 x PROFINET® device's Update time.
